Pier Village Recognized as a “Great Neighborhood” in New Jersey
November 4, 2012
The Pier Village in Long Branch City, New Jersey was built on the previously-destroyed Long Branch Pier site that fell victim to a 1987 fire. It is now being recognized by the American Planning Association (APA) for its stunning beachfront neighborhood with shops, restaurants, residences, and walkable amenities for residents and visitors.
This year the New Jersey Chapter of the APA has recognized developments comprised of unique and exemplary streets, neighborhoods, and public spaces, which are considered three essential components of great communities. The Pier Village has proved to be a particularly “Great Neighborhood” as it provides its users with a true sense of place, while encouraging community activity.
Timothy Haahs and Associates, Inc. (TimHaahs) provided design and consulting services for the parking structure that supports the village. The facility is a four-level, 352-space parking structure that is wrapped on two sides by residential units. Its striking architectural façade mimics the village’s residential units, contributing to the aesthetics of the beachfront destination.
