    Join us for the second event of a three-part series in partnership with Green Building United focused on warehouse development with an emphasis on sustainable design and construction strategies.

    For this event, a panel of experts will present and discuss recent trends and findings on how warehouse development is impacting land use decisions, zoning and transportation infrastructure, locally in the Lehigh Valley, regionally in the northeast, and globally. The forum will conclude with a warehouse development case study presentation.
    A recording of the event will be available for all registered attendees.

    Speakers

    Moira Conway

    Associate Professor, Kutztown University

    Moira Conway is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at Kutztown University. She received a PhD in Geography from the CUNY Graduate Center. Dr. Conway's research interests include using GIS analysis to examine economic, transportation, planning and public health issues. She teaches courses in GIS, Land Use Planning, Transportation Geography, Economic Geography, and Cultural Geography, and serves as a faculty advisor to the Women in Stem and Geography student clubs.

    Heleen Buldeo Rai

    Senior Researcher, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB)

    Heleen Buldeo Rai is a senior researcher at the Mobilise research group of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Supported by a fellowship from Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO), she specialises in e-commerce, urban logistics and sustainability. Heleen obtained a PhD in Business Economics at the MOBI research group of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2019 in Brussels, Belgium and carried out postdoctoral research at the Logistics City chair of the Université Gustave Eiffel between 2020 and 2022 in Paris, France. Her doctoral thesis is titled “Environmental sustainability of the last mile in omnichannel retail”. Heleen has authored several scientific publications and has given guest lectures in various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. She published a best practice guide on sustainable e-commerce supply chains in 2021, provides expert consultancy on the topic and engages in public speaking. Her book was awarded by Platform Innovation in Marketing in 2022.

    Alison Conway, PhD

    Associate Professor , The City College of New York

    Alison Conway is Herbert G. Kayser Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at the City College of New York. Dr. Conway conducts research primarily in the areas of urban freight and city logistics, freight data, and multi-modal interactions in the urban environment. Recent projects have investigated ecommerce-related parking behavior by parcel delivery vans at residential buildings; cargo-cycle performance; emissions impacts from cargo cycle implementation in urban areas; multi-modal conflicts between freight and non-motorized modes; and the community impacts of ecommerce development. Dr. Conway currently serves as Chair of the Transportation Research Board’s (TRB’s) Freight Data Committee. She holds PhD and Master’s Degrees in Civil Engineering (Transportation) from The University of Texas at Austin, and a Bachelor’s of Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware.

    Mardi Ditze

    Lehigh Valley Community Council, Co-Facilitator, Green Building United

    Mardi has over 15 years’ experience in energy and sustainability. She has been employed with a renewable energy company supporting customer services and developing utility scale solar, has worked for the City of Philadelphia’s Energy Office to aid in reaching their climate goals, and is currently the Country Sustainability Manager for IKEA US creating and implementing programs to reach the ambition of Climate Positive by 2030.

    Elizabeth Gabor

    Vice President, Link Logistics

    Liz Gabor Is a Vice President of Development in the Conshohocken, PA office, who started with Link in June 2021. Liz works mostly on East Coast ground up projects; She's responsible for roughly $1 billion In projects. She's had a career mixed with political/government roles from the White House, Pentagon, to Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation, that led to private development for IKEA and now Link. Now Liz juggles work and 2 very active little girls, both who are curious about the world and requires lots of focus and conscious listening to their big imaginations and silliness. Liz believes strongly in the development of women and other disadvantaged groups and serves on Link's DEI Committee.

    Owen O'Neil

    Director of Planning, Lehigh & Northampton Transportation Authority

    Owen O’Neil is the Executive Director of the Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority (LANTA) which is the regional public transportation system serving Lehigh and Northampton Counties in Pennsylvania. He has been in the public transportation field for 20 years and has worked with transit agencies across the country either as staff or as a consultant. Since joining LANTA, Owen has led the efforts to modernize technology; instituted an ongoing service performance monitoring system; and worked with the local MPO on efforts to incorporate transit supportive land use practices into local land development. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Saint Michael’s College, and a Masters of Community Planning from the University of Rhode Island.

    Becky Bradley

    Executive Director, Lehigh Valley Planning Commission

    Bradley has led the metropolitan planning organization for the region and the Lehigh and Northampton counties’ planning commission since 2013, after kick-starting the revitalization of the City of Easton. She has over 20 years of experience in city, regional, economic development, historic preservation, and transportation planning, including significant implementation experience in community revitalization, infrastructure investment, roadway redesign and trail construction. In 2019, she led the merger of the bi-county comprehensive plan with the long-range transportation plan to create a single planned, managed, and investable strategy for the Lehigh Valley.
